Default How does a vr6 react to...

Nitrous? My goal is 300hp and I'm starting to think about nitrous as a quick fix. I was thinking a 75 shot would be good with intake and exhaust and a chip but I don't want to spray if it's going to destroy my motor the first time. Anyone ever use nitrous on a vr6 and if so how long did it last, how many lbs were ran through?

In my personal opinion, nitrous isn't good for any car. Its basically like putting your car on steroids. So eventually it will cause some damage. It just depends on how much your using. If your really serious about this i would recommend a 50 shot, which will give you some power yet allow your motor to last a lil longer...

If you are going to run nitrous and have a chip, make sure it is specifically programmed for nitrous. Any chip for an all motor VR will advance timing and running nitrous with too much advanced timing can cause detonation. Also, there have been issues with a wet set-up on the VR6 in the past. Due to intake manifold design, fuel can puddle in the manifold, then when you turn the car on, boom, your mani will explode.

I haven't read much recently on nitrous use on VR6's, but I do know some people that ran it for a while and didn't have any problems.

And for the record, you won't get 300 hp with a nitrous set-up on a VR6 unless it is a well built set-up. Then for the money, you could have gone turbo and have a more reliable set-up that you could use everyday.

300 is easy to get on a nitrous vr6 a buddy of mine with a garrett 268 chip, 2.9 clone intake, and a 2 1/4 exhasut, stock headgasket and arp headstuds,(must with nitrous), and a 50 shot got 299 at the wheels,

stock chip, arp studs, and a 75 shot you will be good to go,

A buddy of mine ran a dry 100 shot with Vortech V2 @ 14psi on a stock motor for 4 years. Autothority chip.

Nitrous isn't as harmful as some people claim. Use it correctly and you'll be fine.

I know enough about nitrous that if done properly isn't harmful for your motor.

Did he have 268 cams or just the chip and was it a 12v? I don't see how on those mods with a 50 shot he would get 299 at the wheels.
