Default 2001 VW 2.0 Golf Alternator Question

A friend of mine has a 2001 2dor 2.0 liter VW Golf that apparently needs a new alternator. The removal and install looks fairly straight forward with the exception of the serpentine belt tensioner. I can see were the tensioner is however due to having very little hands on with VW, I am not 100% sure as to what type/tool is needed to loosen it. It is at a somewhat off angle to reach and I cant tell simply by looking at it. After checking out the rest of the engine bay, I'm assuming its some sort of Hex bolt that's in the middle of the tensioner.

Anyone have any working knowledge of this particular make and or model that may know the answer, it would be grealy appreciated.

use an adjustable crescent wrench... there is a tab on the back side of the tensioner and you should be able to get a nice hold on it with the wrench.
