Questions about early watercooled VW's

I wouldnt mind turboing a Fox... Late model 1.8T 20V and a full T4....
It would be sick.
Only problem is, I know me. As soon as the first tranny blew up I would be cutting out the tunnel down the floor pan to make clearance for a C4 automatic and a driveshaft, and the rear beam would give way to a back half, ladder bar setup and an 8.8.
And anyone who thinks I wouldnt do it, ask Dave..

Old old (as in, early-mid 70's) aircooled engines got HORRIBLE gas mileage and it just wasn't normal if they didn't leak oil all over the place. Don't think you're looking into something that old but just my $.02.

Oh I'm definitely aware of air-cooled VW's. That's what I grew up with. But like Scott said, I can't really leae well enough alone. If I got any car that had engine swap potential I'd have yet another project car that I don't like to drive or work on.
