The MAF seems to be a common problem, it's always good to have a spare, TB are also known to fail, I would clean the MAF first, than the TB and see if the problem goes away before replacing parts.

If you "clean" the MAF it will be ruined. You can't clean MAF's after the A3 chassis went away. A4 and newer elements are made w/ different materials and will fall apart if cleaned w/ chemicals. I think VW did this to sell more parts.

If you observe value block 01-08-032 in 01-Engine w/ someones VAG-COM you can look at fuel trim and I can tell you if your MAF is the problem. Also 001, 010 and 33-OBD, Mode 2, All PID's.

I would not start throwing parts at your car as these parts are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to guess with.
