It doesn't really matter too much as far as brand, just size and where you want your powerband/peak boost at. In general terms the larger the turbo the more power output, but at a higher rpm which would also increase lag.

I can't imagine something larger than a T3 or T3/T4 (approx. a K04?) hybrid being all that great for a 1.8L daily driver, but I would talk to CAAN or Kyle about it. I'm not really that big on turbos.

I would get the KO3 Eliminator kit from ATP, it's cheap and yeilds pretty good results. I was actually thinking of picking up a 1.8tqm A4 and was gonna get that if I did. I opted for another VW instead. Also how many miles are on the car? I would do any basic maintainence before you start modding.

Garret turbos are good for the 1.8t. Only because they'll fit, and they're cheaper than KKKs. Most turbo upgrades use garret for reasons that APR mentions on their site:
http://goapr.com/Audi/products/stage3_long.html#
but a lot of companies have products.. check the VW/AUDI OFFICIAL DIRECTORY for some of those like AWE tuning, MTM, ATP, REVO, APR, etc.

If it were me, id start small. Just to make sure there arent any major problems with the car since you bought it used. start with a chip.. then move into exhaust, then intake, then make a race n75 valve, and a diverter valve for safety, then you can get into a downpipe, maybe a manual boost controller and a adjustable FPR with some tweaking. then upgrade the turb. Do some research, thats the best part.
Check audiworld.com for lots of info on anything.

The car is great. Everything is in order. The owner kept up with everything. Oil changes, tune ups, and the timing belt has been changed. His ex wife and him are the only owners. They have a pretty nice amount of money so they babied(is that a word?) the car. It only has around 65xxx miles on it.

Well it was buy a 99 audi A4 1.8T, which is in great condition, or a 99 A4 2.0 quattro wich was ok. They are both in the same price range but the 2.0 is a manumatic or trip with tranny problems and more miles. So I'm going for the 1.8T.

So were can I get a chip?

And how much would it be to fix the tranny or get a new one on a 2.0 quattro.(Yea I should look around for myself but im feeling a little lazzy)

I assume you mean a 2.8 cause there is no 2.0 engine. I wouldn't bother replacing the tranny if it is an auto, just find another car with a manual.

Sorry. Its 2.8. Na, its just that the owner of the car is a friend of mine. She got it fixed before but the same shit happened again. So Im guessing she needs a new one all together.
