Default 2004 jetta-

i'm talking to mr nice guy abut his 2004 jetta vr6.

what should i know about these vehicles?

are there any free/cheap mods for better acceleration, handlinbg, etc?

i wont want to mod it (much) if i get it, but curious if there are any minor, non ghetto modifications that'll help it.

thanks!

Sorry, no free mods. They are reliable, I have never had any problems with my 03 24v Jetta. I think they are a grat daily driver.

I'm sure bisquitman and mrniceguy will chime in some more, but isn't the first thing to do is a chip for the 24v? Isn't it like 4-500 and you send the ecu in to get it soldered? Or should I just stick to replying to the old 8 and 16v's?

I would get revo, I got Revo for the R and I like it. No need to send in an ecu if somewhere local does it, they just plug in and download the program. Yesterday I did about 320 miles in the 24V Jetta, cruising between 80-90, and didn't even use a full tank. Like a said, it is a great daily driver.

A Neuspeed short pipe/filter will get you great things.
Sound, torque, and a smidge of HP.

A Chip is also a good thing.

MrNiceGuy's ride is pure quality, I did some suspension work on it back in the day and couldn't believe how well taken care of and clean it was.

If these cars are well maintained (which his is)...The'll last you a heel of a long time and require a lot less maintnance the most other makes/models out on the road.
