Default vw engine question

i found a nice little 2001 jetta with a 2.0L engine. obviously no turbo because that would be the 1.8t. but i just gotta ask, would it be worth it to get this car or just hold out till i find a 1.8t?

the car is a silver 2001 jetta, with 52k miles, manual, clean as hell, different grill, dark tinted windows, shitty adr rims. no performance products yet. asking price is $9,900. but ill be trading in my car ($1000), and i can get the price down cus i know a guy at the dealership.

I would pass, the 2.0 in a MK4 is slower than hell.

They are indesctructable and get excellent gas mileage. Seriously excellent cars, i wouldn't hesitate on buying one. Would make a excellent daily driver. They get over 45+mpg i believe, and have known to be very reliable. They are also respond well to modifications, from what I hear.

I would definitely go with the TDI over the 2.0 cross flow(x-slow). It's all about torque. Bore it, stroke it, pimp it. C'mon what's better than 18:1 compression, a turbo, and 40+ mpg!?!

I Have a 2 point slow xflo and im havin to do serious mods to make it fast. 1.8t's Are nice but have same block as me jus diff head and internals and stroke of course. Get the Tdi i've seen plenty with a turbo upgrade and boost controller and it had 225hp & 445ft/lbs of tq. Id say get it just cuz no one has it also. Also powerband is short so when you hook it up acceleration is gonna be like hooollly shit!!!!
