hey guys, like i stated in previous posts...I am a noob to the vw scene, im a honda guy at heart...I had a few questions about the 8valve motor in the 86 jetta. I love nitrous, and i was wondering how the motor in the jetta would react to it? i wouldn't go over a 50-75 shot on it....anyway, What about a cam,etc,etc...Appreicate it guys.....

dont spray it..your going to run into a lot of problems..i know you prolly want power now and what not but just save your money and piece together a turbo kit...or build the motor then spray it..its probably not going to like it now..

*edit* swap a 12v in it and be done..

He is correct. Don't waste your time with spraying. The stock compression ratio on that car should be 9:1, so you could piece together a cheap turbo kit and have a peppy little ride without having to worry about internal engine work. The biggest problem with that car when trying to make more power is the CIS injection, but all that can be addressed if needed. Otherwise swap a VR in there and let it rip!!!

I agree, you could do mild turbo and be ok, its ultimately up to you tho. You can do suspension and rims while your figuring out what engine route you want to go

For the price of suspension and rims, he could turbo it.

There is no 95 1.8 motor, it would be a 2.0 8V. That swap isn't terribly hard and would be a better base for a turbo project. You could probably pick up what you need to swap it (Including motor) for under 500 bucks.

Edit, if you are gonna go through with a swap, just put a VR in there.
