12v and 24v block?

Default 12v and 24v block?

are they the same? being both 2.8L i was wandering if its the same block...i know its kind of a noob question..

No, there are some major differences between them. I don't remember exactly what they were, but I remember lots of discussions on VWVortex when the new motor came out.

Some coolant passages are different, the stud holes for the head are in different locations, other than that I think the blocks are the same. Bore size should still be the same, as well as deck height.

im asking because i want to know if piston's and turbo manifolds will fit...i wasnt completely sure..

The manifolds will be different, you will need the correct flanges for the 24v heads. I thought you were just asking about the block, the heads are different.
