Default 1.8T engines?

Hi , I am a proud owner of an 01 Jetta. I was wondering what makes the aww engine different from the awp engine besides the horsepower difference? Also wht in the awp eng. makes 180hp than the aww's measely 150? Finally can u swap wht ever makes the awp more powerful into an aww to make it a 180 hp? like the head, block, cams, etc.?Any info. would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

actually the aww can is some cases be better then the awp. the difference is the turbo, a little more boost, and timing. also i think the trannies have different ratios. most big hp 1.8ts running around are awws or awds. it wouldnt be worth it to swap out the turbo to a awp turbo. your better off just getting chipped.
awp has the k03 sport where as the aww has a k03. the difference, if im not mistaken, is the turbine on the k03 is from a k04, just a bit larger.

I have a notebook of 1.8T random facts

APH - New Beetle 1.8t engine
1.Exhaust System: VW put 2L exhaust on the NB 1.8T!
2.Small Injectors, and 3 bar Fuel Pressure Regulator (sufficient for 150HP that’s it; maybe 160 max.)
CR of 9.5:1

AWD - 2000 model year on golf/jetta/gti
AWW - 2001 model year on golf/jetta/gti/wolfsburg
AWP - 2002 model year on golf/jetta/gti/337(yes its the same engine)

Eng Code Compression Exh. Dia. Turbo Stock Boost Timing
AWD 9.5:1 55mm ko3 0.6bar No VVT
AWW 9.3:1 50mm ko3/ko4 0.6bar VCT
AWP 9.5:1 55mm ko3/ko4 0.8bar VCT emmis

To upgrade to a K04 you need Downpipe, coolant and oil lines, intake pipe or , then a 225 intake manifold, and either FMIC or the stock dual-SMIC setup
