dave, i cant find the specs on that car. i know it runs 36 psi of boost and revs to 8k. it does look like it runs alcohol.
i dont take you seriously bisquit. i was just try to get you all rild up with the haters comment. but you have to give credit when credit is due. regardless if its a vw or ford. or if its a 1.8t, 2.0, or vr.

as a former VW owner i can safely say that as long as VW stays being outdated on their cars, and nbot being competetive in the race industry, they will always be hated on by many people. BTW Go Mitsubishi..................we have the fastest unibody car(John Shepherd) , and the first 4 cyl car in the 6's(Brent Rau)........ they just aren't competative enough even though i love the styling of the cars.

audi does have a rich competive racing history. they also just won le mans. theres more to competetive racing then just shooting down a straight line. also, who cares about some guy that ran a 6 in a mitsu or has "this" record. i like dsms and mitsu, dont get me wrond, thats not the point. the point is that in the "real world" no body here or in this forum is running 6s in a daily driver. this is a forum with real people with real cars. not a, who has the fastest car in the world and my shit is bigger then yours forum. everyone is so quick to spit out a name and a number or something that happen some place in someone elses car thats record breaking. but at the end of the day we all drive home in OUR cars. and i now for a fact that a majority of all the cars mitsu has sold wasnt becuase of some 6s pass or because of some record. its because there cheap, have a great warrenty, and a year free of gas. if mitsu was so great, why would they need all these gimmics to get a car sold? i also dont see mitsu being around in another 5 years. there sales have dropped to the ground and they are pulling everything they can out there asses to keep a float.

that's because there car attempts in the US have failed, and there cars which were no longer made in Japan were crappy. but mitsubishi as a company in general, not just the automotive section, is one of the most productive companies in the world. and if you want to get technical and talk about a regular street car full weight with power steering and A/C, let's talk about a man named jerry who owns a little yellow mirage. he has the fastest street import in tampa and if i need to remind you what kind of car it is it's a Mitsu. he should be breaking into the nines today at the track day. i'd like to see a VW do that. and if you want to talk track records. if my memory serves me correct, Mitsu is the most winningest race car in rally events. events which VW sadly doesn't compete anymore, because they were getting the ass kicked too bad.

VW's have not shown any lack of potential in doing so , if i recall correctly Golf's where some of the first daily driven fwd cars to be running in the 10s. Mitsubishi has been a really crap company when it comes to quality control in their vehicles. DSM's are plagued with problems and reliability concerns, interior pieces that fall apart, electrical problems that constantly need to be addressed , and re-addressed , timing belts that snap after a timing belt job, crank walk , and other drivetrain issues i'am sure i'am leaving out. Another notable mitsubishi that was ready for the junkyard the day it rolled off the assembly line was the starion , although it didn't have the drivetrain issues it was plagued with the most awkward type of fuel injection systems to ever be concieved for a passenger automobile , cylinder heads wich are prone to cracking , electronics that do anything but work (or work properly), factory alarm systems that go off completely on their own free will, ac that will work for 5mins then switch to heat on it's own free will , electric windows with a mind of it's own (roll up or down as they please on their own will), as well as crappy fitting interior pieces , that tend to rattle apart and can be moved about by hand fairly easily ( I have first hand experience with the starion , i owned one that was purchased new by my uncle in the 89 model year , it was a ESI-R with all factory options and i recieved it with under 38k miles on the clock , it was a well maintained car that has always been problematic since day one, this is why it was given to me for free). I have sat in and driven the new Lancer Evolution and i can say that from a build quality standpoint it seems to be ages ahead of what mitsubishi was known for building, It has excellent throttle response , lots of tourque , very solid steering response , and handles well. Also has a excellent reputation as a tuner car. Although i do not know how well things like the transmission/transfer case hold up after a while , but the powertrain is very stout. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on the other hand has been known to make EXCELLENT turbochargers , quick spooling , efficient and nearly indestructable. They also make good electronic devices. Other then the older mitsubishi's mentioned , i would be proud to own a Lancer Evolution, it's a excellent car for the money , the only thing i ask , is why mitsubishi didn't import these sooner. The VW R32 is a excellent car as well , but they require more money to get upto the hp levels that the evo can accomplish, and are a little slower stock (although it's a bit more comfortable stock vs stock , and has better highway/high speed manners). As far as the 1.8T goes it has already proven to be a excellent powerplant , any 4cylinder engine that can withold the rigors of 500+whp on factory internals is definetely one worthy of praise. I love both the narrow angle VR6 engine , and the 1.8t engine and i would find it hard to choose between the both , the 1.8t is initially cheaper to modify then the VR6 though , because it is already forcefed from the factory (turbocharged).
P.S. Note that i did not say anything about DSM's or mitsubishi's being slow cars , just that their earlier offerings here in the U.S. have been lackluster in quality, and mitsubishi's willingness to stand behind these products have been nearly non-existant. Definetley looks like they have things much better sorted with the lancer evolution (one of my favorite japenese cars).
