Is this guy full of crap?

Has anyone ever heard of a 2001 1/2 volks beetle 2.0 twin turbo anniversary series? Some guy is trying to sell me one and volks dealerships are saying that this car doesn't exist. Has anyone ever heard of this? Some kind of urban legend or something? He said there were only 5,000 of these ever made....
