1994 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF III GL HATCHBACK.
what are things i should look at closely?
i don't know much about these cars except a rumor that the ac's are weak.

Nothing major to look out for. See if the waterpump is noisy, and make sure it goes into every gear smoothly, that's about all I can think of. I beat my commuter car 2.0 jetta to death and it runs great.

It won't go into every gear smoothly but its an easy fix. a few bushings in the shift linkage and it will feel good as new.

check the motormounts, if the motor is off a tiny bit shifting can be very diffcult, my scirocco(cracked mount) and my buddy's golf(bad rubber in the mount) had that problem
