SOHC - DOHC Tranny Match?
Will a transmision off of a SOHC 1.8L 8 valve go onto a DOHC 1.8L 16 valve?

yes, off of what car? I think if it came off an 85 or higher VW they all have 100mm cv's. And the 16v motor has 100mm cv's.
Why would you want to swap trannys? The 16v has a close ratio, only some 8v motors do. And if you are doing VR6, you can't use the 8v/16v 020 tranmission, you would need an 02J or 02A tranny. 1.8t swap however can use the 020, just it would be able to handle all of the boost.

I believe it was the 8v Scirocco/GTI/Cabriolet that had the same close ratio tranny as 16v cars. I know some of the base cars and diesel cars had tall gears. I have a tall gear tranny on my scirocco.
84 rabbit tranny is what I should have had on my 84 Scirocco, 4k tranmission, instead it was a measly Jetta tranny. Probably self machined itself.
