Anybody done a AMP hook up in a GOLF/GTI ?

I dont want to pay 400-600 for a hook up so I want to DIY

Let me know if anybody done this themselves - I might just have you come by and do it for me for some ca$h!

I mean i would have to take out panels and so on, and this is not a civic - you can't just yank stuff out and put it back like nothing.

I need to drop a RCA and a power cable in the trunk of 04 Golf. And i need it done neatly wiht out breaking any stuff.

Most of the panels just pop right out, its not hard just tedious to get all the wires hidden. I did the install on my car and it's easy just takes time. What size amp are you running, and what gauge wire do you plan on using for power?

I want to run 2x12' in the back.

I am not sure of exactly what to put there yet.

I know that it would probably need at least a 1000 watts

And i want to put the basscontrol unit close by the driver.

Also so what do i do about the RCA's ? I heard people jsut splice a wire adaptor kit that supposedly does distorshio free RCA out...

Your gonna want to run probably 4gauge wire, and the bass control unit is no big deal depending on where you want it. If your car is equipped with the monsoon, you can tap into the factory amp's input signal in the trunk and its nice and close. Check out the DIY threads in the MK4 Forum on VwVortex.com. I know there are a couple of audio install threads there and it'd help you with wiring in the rca converter to the factory amp.
