VWs are safe...
I just want to say that after seeing Jay's old GTI get totalled and Troy's Jetta get totalled today (story in news)... I am glad I drive a new Volkswagen 'cause they have proven over and over to be extremely safe!!!

Look at that! Both Troy and Ben walked away in decent shape. The guy was going like 90mph or something...
I love my Mk4 VW!!!! I will always have it as a daily driver.

This is all I could find. I can't find where the photo came from...
WESLEY CHAPEL - A man dressed as a woman robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon, crashed during his getaway on Interstate 75, then carjacked a Chevy Cavalier with the driver inside, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.
The robber jumped out of the carjacked car in Tampa, leaving the woman who was driving unharmed, the sheriff's office reported.
The robbery happened about 12:40 p.m. when the man, wearing a black dress and a wig, entered SunTrust Bank at 34511 State Road 54.
He apparently did not have a weapon, the sheriff's office reported. Officials did not say how much money he took.
After the robbery, the man fled in a tan Mercury Sable south on I-75.
His escape was delayed when he ran a red light at the end of an exit ramp at State Road 56 and hit a Volkswagen, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
The driver and a passenger in the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries, the highway patrol reported.
The man jumped out of his car, flagged down the Chevy Cavalier, which was headed east on State Road 56, and carjacked the Cavalier and the woman driving it, the highway patrol and the sheriff's office reported.
The man left the woman and her car at Sligh Avenue and Interstate 275 in Tampa, the sheriff's office reported.
The Tampa Police Department then became involved in the hunt for the man. He was on foot when he left the woman's car, but investigators say he might have gotten in another vehicle, Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin said.

Ok I found it. It's ABC Action news but that photo isn't by the article...
TAMPA - A 6-foot 2-inch black man in a wig, a dress, and high heels managed to evade police after robbing a bank, carjacking a woman, and fleeing down I-75 on Wednesday.
Pasco County sheriff's deputies and detectives spent the afternoon searching for clues and questioning employees at the SunTrust bank on State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel, where the robbery took place.
But the action at the bank was just the beginning.
Investigators say the suspect fled the bank in a tan car and took off down I-75. He blew through a red light while exiting at State Road 56 and slammed into another car.
He then got out and carjacked a woman who stopped to help.
"The woman, being a good citizen, stops to contact police. At that point, the suspect runs up to her, yanks open her driver's door, orders her into the passenger's side. He then drives he down here to Tampa," explained Joe Durkin of Tampa police.
From there, the pair got back onto the highway and split off onto I-275.
"Interestingly enough, on the way down here, he's on the cell phone. He's talking to somebody down here in Tampa, making arrangements for him to be picked up," Durkin added.
The suspect bailed out of the car at Sligh Avenue; the woman turned around and called 911 while pulling off the highway at Busch Boulevard, where police combed her car for clues.
The suspect is still on the loose; police are hoping the person the suspect called on the cell phone will come forward.
No one was seriously hurt in any of the incidents.

I agree, Giner. They are amazingly safe.
That whole story is so crazy. My brother saw Ben in his Passat that same day & called me to see if I knew a kid in a gray Passat with a TVD sticker on it.
Have they STILL not caught that dude?
