Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - Legendary Adventure and Love Story “Robin Hood” (1991) is a British adventure film directed by John Irvin and executive produced by John McTiernan. The screenplay was written by Sam Resnick and John McGrath, and the film stars Patrick Bergin as Sir Robert Hode/Robin Hood, Uma Thurman as Maid Marian, Jürgen Prochnow as Sir Miles Folcanet, and Edward Fox as Prince John.

The story brings to life the epic tale of justice, love, and heroism set in the 12th century. The film begins when a miller, caught poaching deer on lands belonging to the King of England, encounters the cruel Norman knight Sir Miles Folcanet. With the help of the Saxon earl Robert Hode and his friend Will, the miller escapes. This act of defiance sets off a series of events that lead Hode, later known as Robin Hood, to become an outlaw. Joining forces with the Merry Men, including Little John and Friar Tuck, Robin

Hood fights against the Norman nobility and protects the poor. Maid Marian joins Robin Hood’s band in disguise but is later betrayed to the Sheriff by a disgruntled outlaw. Determined to stop Marian’s forced marriage to Folcanet, Robin Hood and his Merry Men attack Nottingham Castle. Folcanet is defeated, and Robin Hood marries Marian with the blessing of Baron Roger Daguerre, who sets aside their feud.

Despite its original intention for a theatrical release in the United States,
the film premiered on television on the Fox network. It was released in cinemas in several countries, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. With a budget of $15 million, the film grossed $23 million at the box office.
