The great Danny Kaye, His other movie the Inspector General is just as brilliant. It reminds me of the I love Lucy in England episode when the steward tells Lucy never saw the queen but did see him, she asks Prince Philip and he says no, Danny Kaye!

One of the most admirable things about these old movies is that the sound engineers knew how to balance the audio. I don't have to constantly be turning up the volume to hear the dialogue and then back down when they have music and sound effects.

Today's sound is so hard to accept when you know what it can be. This is a good example of what it can be today. Sound engineers, take note!

Danny Kaye was a comedic genius. The only actor of our day that could have matched him wit for wit would have been Robin Williams. Remember that Danny Kaye was a lot more restricted by societal norms and morality.

Had he lived simultaneous with Robin Williams, it would be tough to say who whould have been the most bizare. here's some Danny Kaye Triviia: His wifie wrote most of his material.

One of my all time favorite Danny Kaye movies! Even though I really like Ben Stiller, his version can't hold a candle. And Virginia Mayo.....va va vavoom! I sometimes think I was born in the wrong decade.

what a delightful movie, that's exactly what overactive imaginative people do, day dream. But hero's mind borders on paranoia of another dimension, which blurs line between reality and imagination, delusional schizo whichever level it might, so now the entire movie becomes

repetitive and kind of drag without him seeking help for his condition, i thought in the beginning it was just one of those writers thing which we have as imagination but we leave it on our pages only.

I watched this because I had seen the 2013 version of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller, which was also really good. I never knew this original existed! I liked this one too, but some of the daydream breakaways were a bit too drawn out. The ending was great! About 1/4 way into the movie, I was hoping Walter would finally

I didn't have time to watch all of the daydreams, but I fast-forwarded and watched the other parts of the movie, and I liked it. I watched it because I saw the remake and I like both of them, although the remake is a deeper kind of movie.

This movie is just a pleasant comedy. I don't normally watch very old movies, but I liked watching Danny Kaye movies when I was a kid, and it turns out I still like his work.
