I have not seen this in years. I dont even remember how long ago it was. I thank you Kar for sharing this with the world. I loved it back then. It is not the usual western. Its fantastic. Perfect for the time (1970) and great these days. And Cass Elliot singing the theme song was one of the best things about the movie. I cant thank you enough. Peace and best to you. ~Stacy

This movie has always moved me deeply. How it illustrates the end of the cowboys lifestyle in the west.Which only lasted until the open range was fenced.And the encroachments of westward expansion. I love how the importance of personal loyalty, to an employer, is also stressed.And

revenge's Chet's murder. Which was as it should have been. The law was non existent in some small towns.Or was corrupted. Because of Montes loyalty to Chet and all the years they rode together. He did what had to be done. As a samauri would have done...!!

Arizonans! Monte Walsh was filmed in Benson and Sonoita. After filming, Lee bought a place in Tucson. Lee Marvin picked the director, edited the script, and did the casting but it did not find a big audience in American theaters.

This is not a big ACTION movie. (sorry to the Dirty Dozen fanatics) . There are some wild scenes ranching horses, breaking broncos, and gunfighting but this is more a movie about what people feel/do when their whole industry winds down.

lee marvin turned down patton,for monte walsh.they say he made ,a big mistake.
i think marvin gave the most heart felt performance of his career.

I’ve been on a Lee Marvin binge lately and I just saw this film for the first time. And a great film it was.

The legendary Lee Marvin and the great Jack Palance were a great pairing for this film.

A bittersweet story but with moments of humor and joy. It left me a little teary eyed. I’ve now watched it several times. Thanks so much for uploading.

At the beginning, the original tiny house. Looks like we Americans are getting back to our roots with tiny houses. Or is it our money is being soaked up by Wall Street and after spending all of our dough, the only thing left we can afford is a tiny house with little or no possessions?

One of the best western movies out there with the struggle of people in a changing world as relevant today as it was for the cowboys back then.
