Actually admin. leave is normally a LOT longer than one week. And during that time you are not only trying to cope with the stress of having just shot and killed someone and the nightmares playing over and over in your head, but also with how you will face their family, how the family will react toward you, was your shooting fully justified, could you have done anything different, could you have prevented it, did you do it in the most humane manner you could, and will you even have a job once IA is done picking your ass apart... It's nothing like people seem to think... It's not bang, done, ok now call rescue to clean this up and lets go get some coffee and donuts before I get sent on paid vacation for a bit...

And its not even the fact that he is a cop, I think if you kill anyone meaninglessly, you should have to pay the fuckin piper one way or another... If anyone killed someone dear to me, friend, family, or whatever, they would get their shit kicked in until they were unrecognizable, followed by a small caliber bullet to each femoral artery, so as they lie in agony slowly bleeding out, they have time to regret what they did before they take their last breath...
