The 06 has a VQ35DE, the 07 has a VQ35HR. Far from identicle.

No they are not.
06's come with the VQ35DE rated at 298 BHP.
07's come with the VQ35HR rated at 311 BHP.
That's a 13 horsepower difference.

well not to correct you mr llama but the VQ35DE is rated at 300 and the VQ35HR is rated at 306 via wiki
