As far as comparing Kimbo, to Sapp. Not even close Kimbo is a much better fighter Sapp is a joke and like to pick on the small guy.

I will say this i wish they would have not stopped the fight but there are safety regulations that they do have to follow.
Yes kimbo was tired but he was still throwing devastating punches and you could clearly see that. I think he handled him self pretty well on the ground. he just needs some more practice.

the thing is he is NOT a pro. he is just getting started and has alot to learn. something he even said. its a big difference from going to backyard/alley fighting to fighting these guys. granted thompson is not a good fighter but kimbo held his own for what he could. he has never really been on the ground ever. all his other matchups have ended in the 1st round. he really needs to work on his stamina, he was out of gas quickly. he just needs to continue to train and he will get alot better. he has come far for the little he has trained in my opinion. it was shitty that the fight got stopped but if it kept going, kimbo would have really hurt him. the guy was seeing stars and had no balance in that 3rd round while also being pinned to the fence taking hits. the fight would have ended within 10 seconds by the guy getting knocked out. they seen it coming and with the ear popped, they figured to stop the fight for thompson's safety.

by no means am i a kimbo nut swinger, but i do think the guy is a fucking rock. but he has all kinds of improvement to make. what they are doing nnow is taking what he does have and molding him into a actual real fighter. its just like college football, they pick kids from high school that are good, but that may not have the best technique but are build for the job and take them under their wing to make them what they need them

kimbo is a fighter, he just needs to be shaped and learn to be a great one.

and for those who are saying that pros dont get tired? wtf??? haha look at any sport, when pros get pushed past what they are used to they all get tired, in football, soccer,baseball everything! look at boxing, in the 12 round they are dead just leaning on eachother, are they not pros?

 

To the comment of any of us not lasting 20 seconds on a cage with Kimbo is irrelevant. I know I'm not a cage fighter, but I'm an avid fan and appreciate what the MMA sport is about... With that said, my thoughts on the Kimbo fight was at best disappointing.

I admit I was caught up on the hype of watching Kimbo destroy his opponent with fierce prejudice. Anybody that knows about this sport will say the same thing... After watching the fight, Kimbo will not last a minute with a half way decent MMA fighter (much less from the UFC)

Kimbo is a street fighter. Seriously, all he knows to do is throw punches and haymakers. He has a looooong ways to go in the conditioning and training of a true MMA fighter. And I agree with Brett Rogers on his actions on calling out Kimbo. Its not just him hyping a possible fight against Kimbo, but I wouldn't doubt one bit that he was insulted and offended of having Kimbo classified as an MMA fighter next to him. And to be honest, Rogers will own him in the first round.

I thought for a second that EliteXC would give the UFC a run for its money... but after watching this WWE/XFL format, I knew then the UFC will still remain the premier fighting circuit.

And what's going to happen now that Tito Ortiz is going to "greener pastures" with EliteXC? I still hear that sonbitch Dana White laughing...

I miss PRIDE FC...that was a premiere fighting league.... international fighters, 10 minute rounds and different weight classes going against each other in their Grand Prix specials....good stuff. I hate how UFC keeps pushing the hacks of their Ultimate Fighter show......I still haven't figured out how they rank guys. Now WEC is getting a push with UFC fighters and that fake Faber vs. let-me-watch-the-clock Pulver fight....c'mon. I didn't watch the CBS version of Elite XC. The Showtime version was ok. I believe they hosted the Kung Le vs Frank Shamrock fight. Le is the shit.

Kimbo has lots of potential, but he has a long way to go. Thompson was knocked out in the first round in PRIDE by Aleksander Emilionenko (Fedor's bro).

 

I totally thought Kimbo would blow Thompson out in the first round. I think he could have but at the same time Kimbo was trying to prove that he can handle the ground. He got caught against the cage which Kimbo has never experienced but James has. Kimbo did in fact hold his own in that situation. As for Brett Rogers... Kimbo will stand up and beat him down with ease. I can't wait to see that fight.

They stopped that fight because it was on national television. Grandma does not want to see some dudes ear fall off.
