i've seen more evo's at shop's getting fixed then an wrx but thats my 2 cents

As long as you don't drive the fuck out of an Evo and take care of it, it will last a long time. My fiance has an '06 Evo IX slightly modded, has been to the track, but he doesn't regularly drive the piss out of it and he hasn't had a single issue. Same thing with WRX trannies, be careful with them and they will last you a good while.
