it was a rhetorical question...people here tend to think it has to be manual to be fast.

oh thats what you mean.
it depends what you make out of the car, sure they can be fast with automatic

I don't like automatic transmission in sporty cars, I think it's something for luxury sedans or SUVs.....or old people.

Yeah, but automatics in dig racing or bracket racing at the track are much better that manuals due to consistency factors, and not having to worry about mis-shifting.

That was a sick supra.

Yes autos are better for drag racing and an auto supra has A LOT of torque.

i know, it was just my 2 cents because I like to go grip (no diff-lock ) and prefer to have a manual for that.

Most people would prefer a manual.

The auto trannys on the supras arent good unless you modify them but that costs like 3,000 to 4,000 bucks.

Cheaper route is to go 5 spd r154. That stock is almost bulletproof.

the only reason an auto makes more torque initially is because of the stator in the converter, once it all comes to speed that torque multiplication factor becomes non-existant and makes just as much torque/power as a 5/6spd car. so technically they dont make any more torque over a manual tranny after 20-25mph probably.
