I was being a little sarcastic earlier in the post I must admit. The KA had to have 2x the amount of money in it to make it as fast as the SR. The guys that bleed KA have never had a good SR. End of story. I've had and built tons of both and at the end of the day..... SR FTW

Ive never seen a stock SR block that can handle that kind of pressure with out actually sleeving it. The sleeves alone will cost around $500 plus the machine work on the SR block to get the sleeves to fit which is a lot of money already. Price for SR and KA head work is about same for a port and polish, valves, springs and all that other stuff that is good for a race head.
Lower end parts for SR and KA prices is almost the same like pistons, arp bolts, but the brian crower rods for SR is about $300 cheaper but again those sleeves make up for it. Price for bolt on parts like manifold, turbo, intercooler, and engine management is about the same ether way. Dont forget that KA motors can be found anywhere for cheap not like the SR motors.
Now that KA in the video is using stock block with factory bore and still running with stock cams. Ive never seen a SR push over 700hp with out changing the cams. SR motors also have rocker arms that always break. Unlike the KA which doesnt have rockers. Looks like the SR motor needs more money involved then what people actually think. Ive owned SR motors since 98 and KA motors since 97 and I still own both motors till this day and to me I think they are great motors in there own way but I saved a whole lot more money building my KA then the SR. NOTE: I BLEED RED BLOOD

You need to get out of the house more often. There are 700 + SR20's in South Florida running on stock sleeves ALL DAY LONG.

All you need is a good headgasket, 1/2" head studs, HKS lash killer kit, springs, retianers, and some good bump sticks. Head done!

Play that video again and tell me thats stock cams....If they are, then they have had the shit ground out of them to some other duration.

Then you were probably beat by some of the ones I built in the early years. Including my red S14 with SR in 98. JK
The fact of the matter is KA's are a "cheap" mans motor ( I discussed this for years when writing for HCI and C16 magazines) and they fit the owners of most of the POS multi colored 240's on the street today. I'll stop there before I hurt any of my friends feelings.
You can get a SR20DET long block with rod knock etc. cheap if your looking for a motor to build. They are so plentiful now that everyone and their brothers are importing them. Not to mention that performance parts are everywhere unlike the KA with limited resources. I'll post pics of one in the works right now when the owner gives me permission. Goal is mid 600's weekly driver.

Still a great video you posted however, someone is not telling the whole truth on that car. Stock KA cams dont sound like that. Maybe stock bore but thats about it.
Peace out,

I got nothing against SR's and im not trying to start a SR vs KA war its just that I favor the KA a little bit more then you do. Im just like you I dont favor multi colored 240's out there and I dont doutb your skills and knowledge about the two motors. From what your saying is that you favor SR's more then KA's and thats fine. If you prove me wrong thats great but that will never change what I think about KA's. I would like to see SR's that can produce thos kinds of power and see what kind of setup they use but there will always be someone with a KA that will try to excel the SR motor.
You sound like a good person tho and yes it was a great video. PEACE BE WITH YOU
