There is a distinct difference between animals raised for food and thought of as a food source throughout the world and the slaughter of dolphins. The Japanese elite pride themselves on eating odd animals and calling it a delicacy. 99.9999999% of the world does not consider dolphins a food source.
This is senseless exploitation of an animal for the rarity of it being served to you as food. I am no PITA wannabe or some kind of activist but there is a limit to my capitalist nature.
The debate of these dolphins being a "higher" animal on the food chain than a chicken or cow aside, if the logic of it being "just another animal" is true, how does everyone feel about eating the family dog or cat? (It happens everyday). What about the reports of some Asian cultures dining on human fetuses and calling it cuisine or the French eating human placenta?
How is eating veal ok but frois groi is banned in NY restaurants? The line needs to be drawn somewhere.
Dolphins as a food source is just retarded, IMHO it is just as dumb as Shark fin soup, lion fish sushi, cobra blood drinks in India, ballut, or being served a beating frog heart before the rest of the animal is prepared. It all equals un-necessary IMHO.
Is it all viable food.... sure, but I am sure you get my point that just because you can do a thing, does not mean you should do a thing.
