If you want to see just how well Kung-fu does against grappling, go to Gracie Barra Tampa, when you get there go to bjj in action and it shows bjj against other arts. I dont know how to post vids or I would've posted them, just my .02.

Lets clear this up with some common sense.
Lets break down MMA:
Mixed Martial Arts (a personal style composed of Many (mixed) Martial Arts.
vs
Kung Fu (One/Uno, or one "style")

With that stated.... This particular match up is like comparing a modded car with nitrous, a turbo, methanol injection, built motor, etc... built to run the 1/4 to .... a plain Ole' nitrous built engine (a mild one at that) for some weekend fun.

Comparing 2 completely different animals that aren't even on the same "base" level.

If it were fair, and we want to compare what's better, go get an ACUTAL Shaolin Kung Fo master to come down from the temple whose fought for real. And 'the' MMA guy of choice.

You guys can't be so damn general about things and expect to have a rational outcome.

I.E. your usual "all imports suck" or "all domestics sucks" fights. They're stupid as shit and lead no where because the argument is too broad and to say those things would be ignorant.

BUT. In the end, if u have someone who lives breaths and eats martial arts training that best suits them then you're going to end up with a superior fighter... Bruce Lee? indeed.

like I said when you limit yourself to studying solely under a single martial art you completely limit yourself

Wrong style of kung fu to be putting against a MMA guy. Anyone who dresses in a traditional kung fu outfit for a sparring match is obviously not skilled in the fighting side of kung fu.

Try again w/ a Sanshou/Sanda guy.

That being said - Crosstraining is the king of all martial arts. You limit yourself to one thing, you get your ass kicked.

Edit: And if you think Bruce Lee did only one style, or had one style that fit him.. Think again. He was ahead of his time to the day he died - He had just begun experimenting with grappling and takedowns several months before he died.
