Way to much work to only go 12's.
Here's a hint, Read the info for the video and it'll explain why he's "omfg only running 12's!"
An amazing concept you say? Indeed...
Here's what almost all of you in your infinite wisdom over looked:
"Although the car is fast, can't go below 12s in the 1/4 mile drag strip, - safety regulations. It was driven to the drag strip from my driveway, no trailer. More info is available - search "Twin Engine Talon" on Google.
The 60 foot's created by this car are in the 1.68 - 1.78 range, and by the 1/8th it's at ~100mph. I usually let off the throttle and let it engine brake after that point because I don't want to be banned from the local track.
It's passed emissions twice now, even tech at Route 66 (both places never noticed the rear motor
. There is a safety firewall 3/4" thick. It's weight is 3650lbs with driver, with the center point moved 1 foot back from stock.
Finished in 2002, and slowly updated until now. Rear cooling is about the only issue left (cannot cruise over 55mph for long periods of time). It's beat a modded Firebird-LS1, a Hayabusa, and modded 3000gt vr4, all of which run 11's or faster on the track. I refuse to street race with it however, I didn't make it to be immature about it. This was my first car in 93, w/ 22k miles. My dad refused to let me buy a Camaro on my own, so he put some extra cash in... and drove it for 2yrs while I was in college putting 60k miles on it! Nooo!
Thanks go to my wife, Trisha, and my friends, Tyler, Mike, Tom, Dan, Yosh, Travis, + others that helped, along with the sponsors that helped offset the cost.
Enjoy. "
