bottom line: consistancy for a drag racer means that every heat you dont hit a wall or your opponent for a few seconds. you dont have to worry about your opponent cutting you off at all because he (or she) has to stay in his (or her) lane nor do you have to worry about your opponents position on turns.
in the track events, there are no lanes and you have to worry about your opponents positions, drafting, turns, and even portions of the track that are straight.
it takes talent to perform well on both track and drag. i just think that the track racers have and advantage over the drag racers. all track racers can drive fast in a stright line, not all drag racers can take fast runs.

I agree that drifting or road racing requires more endurance and a lot of times more skill, but it takes skill to not let up at a drag strip while your spinning your tires for the first few gears when the backend wants to be your front end.
