No, now they've got a "V8 engine simulator" on ebay. It does everything, the idle, normal cruising, wot to high rpm, the works. I heard a CRX that had one, it was sick. Better than the real thing.

 

lets also not forget those cars from back in the day weigh in like a damn hummer. my neighbor had a super gas 69 camaro and with lexan windows, fiberglass hood and tubbed rear it weighed in at 4500 lbs.

 

I still can't get over the sound of it. That's one of the most impressive engine notes I've heard in a vid.
