Default Who knows Ford Trucks?

I'm in the market for a pick up truck.
I'm leaning towards the F150, 4 door, super cab.
So far, the 2000-2003 generation seems to be priced about right.
Looking to spend about 8 grand.

Anything to look for?
Any model better than another?

It will be my daily driver. Needs to have 4 full doors. Decent back seat. And will be towing a landscaping trailer at least once a week, if not more.

Suggestions? Advice?

Common problems?
Common upgrades?

Not looking to lift it up or anything like that. Considering lowering it a touch. But won't if it kills ride quality.
More power would be cool, but better MPG is better.

Thanks!

sold my 99 with 214k miles broken: ac/ heat, snapped front drive shaft, dings dents, peling tint and leaking rear end and squeaking front end for $4500 so i vote they keep good value!!! as for this year mine was a 1999 beat to hell and back and stated every day and drove me to work across the state through the wods and into the mud with the 4x4 etc...only problems are the coils go bad and are expensive (about $100 each) x8 if the v8....also they are knows for (as well as explorer and lincoln) the front busings to go out causing it to squeak like crazy. otherwise mine has no "common" problems that i can remember mist of my problems were because t was a 2nd vehicle to me and i drove it through 4ft of mud framed it out and climed rocky trrrain etc so i didnt care if i beat it. i liked it so much i traded in my altima for a 05 f150 supercrew and used the 4k from the truck towards the new one.

I picked up a '03 4 door. really enjoying the truck so far.

Currently looking for some decent forums/sources of info

I want to get on top of all of the maintenance/common issues handled so I don't have to worry about any of that.
And of course, some goodies

f150forums is decent, most say the same info. coils are the biggest problem, otherwise just normal oil changes is all it needs. goodies are all over especially for that body style and pretty cheap
