Default Costom fab your own lift....possible?

Do you think custom fabing your own lift is possible? I mean i have a Miller welder on hand and im sure as for metal it would be cheaper then 2500 since that is what you would pay at a shop for a lift. I have a 93 Grand Cherokee 4x4 and i have some ideas of how th make my own lift. And one thing i keep heraring and i wanna know if this is true "You can only go so high cuz jeeps are top heavy" is this true and if so whats like the max range im shooting for a 9inch lift and hopefully run 40-39.5. and i know you have to extend the control arms end links maybe break lines. Just lmk your guys input

It' s going to take a lot more then just a welder to do that . it can be done if you have some skills !they are not that top heavy my brother had one on 42" swampers ! if it was me i would just buy a 6.5" lift some 35" tires .what's your plans trails & rocks, mud or street ?

Don't try and make your own lift thats stupid and dangerous. Like todd said, it would look good on 35's. I take it you don't know much about trucks?

Making your own lift isnt 'stupid and dangerous' unless your trying to keep IFS.

Its not to complicated if you ditch the coils and go leaves and jeeps can go just as high as long as your a little wider as with anything so you don't flip. Are the jeep GC independent or do they have a solid axle?

A SAS lift isnt that hard to do. IFS is another story and stupid.

doesnt this already have a 30 up front?

if you want to keep the 3 link dont extend anything. just build some new links, its not that hard. I dont know anyway around not having to extend brake lines when you increase lift and travel, that should be a given. Just get some full widths and build some spring packs to hang the springs. would be more stable with leafs. simple, easy and you can get almost all of it out of a junkyard.

Wanna be able to handle my own in the mud but also be street tamable. They sell a 7 inch lift coil might just put those on their and beef up the drag link track bar and tie rod as well as a new pitman arm and break lines and sway bar end links. and just run some 35-36 boggers
