New 24 Foot Trailer for haul the Toys
Just got this earlier in the week.
In fact, I have yet to even bring it home.
It is still sitting up at Champion Trailers.
I wanted something big enough to haul the Jeep and the 4-wheelers up to our property (or where ever).
It's a '07 PJ I-Beam Deckover
24' x 8" , 2 5/16" Adj. ball, 3' Dovetail w/2 18x60 Ramps, 2-7000# Elec / Spring Axles, Front Toolbox, Weight 4,300# GVWR 14,000# Cap 9,680#
More than I really needed weight wise.... but it's all good.
Soon I will have pics of it being used to transport our toys.... until then, this is the best I got.

Now I should be able to get everything on one trailer..... vice either taking the Jeep, "or" the 4-wheelers on the little trailer... like this:

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

I wanted a deck over for two reasons:
1 - the extra width
2 - the extra ground clearance (our property is quite wooded and full of under-brush)
It is definitely more heavy duty than I really need, but it leaves room for upward growth a little.
As for the mileage impact... it this point what does it matter.

I may pick up another off-road vehicle or two, possible a side-by-side, if so, this should be able to tow them as well.

I see where you are coming from. I am in the same place, sort of. I want to be able to haul my samurai and my dad's tracker. I need at least 24' of trailer, but I really want 28'. The problem is that anything 28' long is way over built for what I am going to be towing. So we are going to build our own. As for the mileage thing every little bit helps and when you start getting taller the mileage falls off. For example when I towed my friends camaro to Dallas for him I got 14-14.5mpg, but towing my zuk on the same trailer I get 12.5-13 tops. The camaro is an easy 1000lbs more than my zuk but the zuk catches a ton of air.

As I understand it, it is wind resistance that accounts for the majority of the energy required to move a vehicle.... more so than weight.

Yeah it is we are not going to build a deck over just to help keep the trucks out of the wind. Our trucks are both really tall already. The good thing is that trailer is more trailer than you need so it should last a long time. I would look into a weight distribution hitch. pulling 8,000-10,000lbs is going to bring a lot of tongue weight.
