Default 93 jeep cherokee

Hey guys...i have a 93 jeep cherokee 4x4 that i just bought a couple days ago...it was having troubles starting so i went to the parts store and bought some new battery cables thinking that would resolve the problem cause the battery and the terminals both on the cables and the battery were corroded..but so i started taking the factory cables off not realizing it was a whole harness, so when i figured that out i spliced a couple wires to make it fit..but now im having trouble with the new battery..whenever i turn the key to the position right b4 i turn the motor over it says that my battery is almost dead, but it still cranks, but still very hesitant, just as it did b4..so im starting to think it maybe the starter or starter solenoid..BUT the big question is why is my battery saying that it is almost dead..its a brand new battery and i put everything back the way it was.. i dont understand..can someone PLEASE help me..thanks..also if you know where i maybe able to find one of these harness' please let me know thanks..

Eric.

try all fuses, connections at the starter, and check for any open circuits....

the harness' ur talkin about arent expensive.its just a bunch of ground and power wires that are connected in like 3 or 4 places each.
