By: Richard S. James | November 2, 2018 5:43 AM The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League have released their 2019 schedules, and while they will remain separate series, the schedules have been coordinated to encourage more cross-country participation.Bill Smith, series director for both the LOORRS and LOMSCL, said a cooperative effort by all parties went into construction of schedules that are aimed at giving teams ample time between events for travel and preparation. Logistically, that has been a challenge in the past for teams hoping to enter races in both series, Smith said.“With a lot of communication and cooperation with all the track owners and promoters, we’ve come up a great schedule for 2019,” Smith said. “Some teams have expressed interest in competing in both the LOORRS and LOMSCL and I think this schedule will allow teams the opportunity to do so.”For example, the LOORRS event June 29-30 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri is two weeks after the LOMSCL race in Crandon, Wisconsin and two weeks before the Elk River, Minnesota event.“We enjoyed a successful 2018 season in both series and look forward to an even better 2019 with release of our schedule the first step toward that,” Smith said.
LOORS Pro 4 at Wild West Motorsports Park, Reno, Nev.
Both schedules will look very familiar, essentially mirroring last year’s with one exception. A visit to Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah — a fixture of LOORRS for several years now — is not included on the 2019 schedule. That facility’s future is still uncertain pending its lease from the county. Otherwise the schedules remain roughly the same as in 2018.LOORRS will start its season at Glen Helen Raceway and end it at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, visiting both tracks again during the season, plus Estero Beach, Lucas Oil Speedway, and Wild West Motorsports Park near Reno. LOMSCL is bookended by Crandon on Father’s Day and Labor Day weekends, with stops at ERX Motor Park in Elk River and Bark River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
