Republican lawmakers are demanding President Biden resign the presidency following his announcement that he will not seek re-election. Members of Congress, governors, and commentators alike argue that if Biden is unfit to run, he is unfit to serve the remainder of his term.

• Speaker Mike Johnson said in a statement, "If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5th cannot arrive soon enough."
• House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, echoed this sentiment, saying, "If the Democrat party has deemed Joe Biden unfit to run for re-election, he's certainly unfit to control our nuclear codes. Biden must step down from office immediately."
• House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, added, "If Joe Biden can't run for re-election, he is unable and unfit to serve as President of the United States. He must immediately resign."

Republican lawmakers are calling on President Biden to immediately resign after he announced Sunday that he would not seek re-election in November. The announcement has intensified Republican demands for Biden to step down, citing concerns over his ability to fulfill presidential duties, the same concerns that led more than two dozen Democrats to demand Biden withdraw from the race.

House Speaker Mike Johnson highlighted the severity of the situation,

The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election. Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez emphasized the capability issue,
