[h=2]City Demands Gun Shops Install Surveillance Cameras, Turn over Footage of Customers[/h]
City Demands Gun Shops Install Surveillance Cameras, Turn over Footage of Customers

Pushed a step further to create a local database of gun owners — something that is completely against federal regulation and a violation of the 2nd Amendment.
Every day liberals concoct new schemes to tighten the government’s control over the rest of us. Since they are against owning guns, they need to hide behind tyrannical uses of police force to try and constrict the freedoms protected by conservatives across the country. They think they can do this without notice, but we catch them every time.
In this instance, a local government is taking broad steps towards an Orwellian society. If you think it can’t happen in America, keep reading. This is a new law that is already in effect.

Saginaw, Michigan
The city has made headlines by instituting a new ordinance. According to the new rules, certain businesses will be compelled to have at least three separate security cameras and an approved lighting system by March 1, 2019. The cameras will need to take photos of the faces of every customer who enters or exits the store. The third camera will catch the face of everyone who approaches a cash register or checkout. If it seems at least odd, if not outright unlawful, for a city to place this burden on a business, just wait.

For businesses to be in compliance with the new rule, their premises will need a police inspection. Upon inspection, the cameras, recording system and lighting system will all be certified. Failure to receive such a certification will be deemed a civil infraction and will include financial penalties. Potentially, a business could have their right to operate revoked.

You still aren’t upset? Try this. Only select businesses are charged with the new security measures. The list of obligated merchants is not based on location, existing security or any measurable threat of crime. Instead, it’s based solely on the type of business. At the top of the list, gun sellers are marked. Other types of stores that will be subject to these discriminatory stores include second-hand merchants, pawn brokers and pool halls. Noticeably absent from the list are liquor stores, bars and drug dispensaries.

Violating Freedom
Many proponents of the new ordinance point out that the cities demands are not entirely different from those of many insurance companies. That misses a huge point. If a business can’t afford surveillance equipment to satisfy an insurance policy, they can change policies or companies. If they can’t comply with the city ordinance, they can be shut down at gunpoint. This is the primary reason free-market economics aren’t subjected to the same limitations as government. Business owners and operators in Saginaw can’t simply work under a new government.

For starters, this is an obvious case of government overreach. Surveillance equipment isn’t cheap, and this could prove cost-prohibitive to many business owners. Piling onto that is the fact that maintaining these systems will change the bottom line for stores involved. Data isn’t free all. Of course, that’s exactly the point. If the city can make running a gun store too expensive, they can indirectly attack the 2nd Amendment. It isn’t a final solution to those pesky gun owners, but it’s clearly a first step to disarming the population.

The violation of freedom extends far beyond placing undue financial burdens on local businesses. It also threatens the privacy of every citizen in the city. The ordinance doesn’t just require that every shopper have their face recorded. It also gives unrestricted access to the police. There is no question that this is a way to monitor spending and purchasing in the community. It can easily be pushed a step further to create a local database of gun owners — something that is completely against federal regulation and a violation of the 2nd Amendment.

You can’t rest for even a second. Liberals have no respect for the Constitution or the values of freedom. The Marxist utopia they pursue can’t function in a population that is full of self-thinking, self-respecting individuals. They’ve long understood that disarming Americans is paramount to moving towards true socialism, and they’ve never stopped their ravenous attacks on liberty. They are downright insidious, and they seem truly tireless in their efforts. No matter how many times we and the law strike them down, they come after our guns again. Never relax your vigilance. They day you do is the day we lose this fight for good.

Condoleezza Rice’s Powerful Reason for Supporting the Second Amendment

Former U.S. State Secretary Condoleezza Rice revealed a compelling reason for supporting Second Amendment rights when she sounded off on the heated debate on guns in the United States.

Rice, a black Republican woman who served as President George W. Bush’s top diplomat, brings a unique perspective to the discussion — one that hits the identity-obsessed left right where it hurts.

“Let me tell you why I’m a defender of the Second Amendment,” Rice said. “I was a little girl growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, in the late fifties, early sixties. There was no way that Bull Connor and the Birmingham Police were going to protect you.”

“And so when White Knight Riders would come through our neighborhood, my father and his friends would take their guns and they’d go to the head of the neighborhood. It was a little cul-de-sac and they would fire in the air, if anybody came through.”

“I don’t think they actually ever hit anybody,” Rice added. “But they protected the neighborhood. And I’m sure if Bull Connor had known where those guns were he would have rounded them up.”
“And so, I don’t favor some things like gun registration,” she said. “That said, it’s time to have a national conversation about how we can deal with the problems we have. It’s not going to be any single fix to the terrible events at Parkland,” she explained.

In mentioning Parkland, Rice referred to the location of the February 14th shooting that killed 17 people at a Florida high school. That event has sparked renewed discussion on the role of guns in American life. Second Amendment critics, particularly on the left, have since called for a ban on certain high-capacity weapons, saying less access will make shooting incidents less frequent. Supporters have countered by pointing to the numerous law enforcement blunders leading up to the shooting, suggesting that access to the gun itself was only part of the problem.
Rice’s arguments touch on the idea that all Americans enjoy a God-given right to self-preservation, and that it is imperative that historically marginalized groups (namely black Americans) take advantage of this.
Of course, you would normally expect Rice’s comments to generate at least some sympathy from the left — which presents itself as being more sensitive to racial issues. Apparently, this sentiment goes completely out the window when a story like this comes from a conservative figure.

After Rice’s comments, there was discussion on The View among the show’s hosts about the issue of guns. Meghan McCain expressed concern about President Trump softening on the issue of whether to enact more stringent gun control. When he was campaigning before the 2016 election, he appeared to strongly support gun rights and the Second Amendment. He had built a strong alliance with the NRA. But it appears as though Trump might be caving to mounting pressure — that is, if we are to take the president literally, which is usually problematic.

As Rice said, the solution to shootings such as the one that happened in Florida are complex and multifaceted. One issue that needs to be confronted, however, is the increasing violence in society. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. People of strong morals, ethics and character do not commit violent acts. People who want to harm others will do so even if they don’t have access to guns. That is readily apparent by the variety of other violent crimes that take place that do not involve guns.
Also, many of the mass shootings that have occurred in recent years, going all the way back to Columbine in Colorado in the late 1990s, have involved pharmaceutical drugs. Further information is needed about the impact of those drugs in contributing to people committing violent acts. In either case — linking shooters only to the weapons they use is an incomplete method of investigating the issue.
Dealing with the chronic problem of violence in U.S. society is not easy. We need level-headed people from a variety of professions and experiences to share their knowledge and generate workable solutions. But one thing is clear: Simply doing away with guns is not going to solve the problem of violence, which originates in people’s hearts and minds.

It was Marian Hammer of Florida who created the Eddie Eagle Gun Safety program

while she was president of Unified Sportsmen of Florida.
------------

In 30 years child gun deaths have declined by 80% and 30 million kids have gone through the program.

Fake News chooses to remain silent on anything positive about guns.
--------

Marian Hammer talked to Florida Legislators to get concealed carry passed in Florida

while liberals were screaming "blood in the streets!" and "Dodge City!"
----------

Marian Hammer eventually became President of the NRA, at that time when it

was mostly male members.

-------

The liberals and National Organization of Women always say that a woman should be

able to do anything that she wants to do.
---------------

The NOW gang chooses to keep completely silent on the accomplishments of Marian Hammer.

Eddie Eagle Celebrates 30 Years

By Beth Alcazar // 03/13/2018

A media release recently announced that the National Rifle Association’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. As reported, “In the program’s three decades of outreach, more than 30 million children across the United States have learned NRA’s simple, effective firearm accident prevention principles. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unintentional firearm fatalities among children of the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program’s targeted age group have declined almost 80 percent since the program’s debut.”

So much for the liberals screaming "blood in the streets" from teaching kids about guns.

I think that’s all very good news and should definitely be recognized. Hey — who wants to argue with reaching pre-K through 4[SUP]th[/SUP] graders all over the nation about gun safety? As the release stated, “The Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program has been utilized by more than 28,000 schools, law enforcement agencies and civic groups. The governors of 26 states have signed resolutions recommending that the program be used in their school systems and the legislatures of 25 states passed resolutions recommending the use of the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program.”

All that good stuff said, however, I would like to offer a small challenge to the Eddie Eagle program. As most people know, “The program was founded with one mission: to teach children four simple, easy to remember steps so they know what to do if they ever come across a gun — ‘STOP! Don’t Touch. Run Away. Tell a Grown-up.’” And while the NRA’s safety program for kids has certainly experienced some updates and some upgrades over the years (most recently in 2015), I am just unsure if I agree completely with the messaging. To me, these words of advice (which many children and adults, alike, have stuck in their heads as a fun, catchy tune) may be slightly off-track. For instance, what message, exactly, are we sending our kids when we’re basically singing, “Run away whenever you see a gun?”

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to responsible gun ownership, I don’t want to instill fear in my children; I want to instill respect. And I don’t want my kids to fall for the misleading messaging the Fake News mainstream media wants to push: that guns are bad, scary or dangerous. In that way, as well, I don’t want my kids to feel that they have to leave the area or run away whenever a gun is around. I would much rather them learn about firearms and firearms safety while I (or another responsible adult) is there to teach them!

I completely understand that Eddie and his Wing Team are trying to teach kids simple, memorable steps, and running away (or “leaving the area,” as the saying used to advise) is a good way to find an adult and get some help. (The Eddie Eagle website even further explains step three, stating “This removes the temptation to touch the firearm as well as the danger that another person may negligently cause it to fire.”)

But for me, whether cleaning a gun, packing a range bag or shooting at targets, I want my kids to be cautious and alert, but I also want them to soak up all the information and experiences they need to truly be safe. Perhaps, then, the Eddie Eagle GunSafe messaging would be more effective and more positive (and perhaps a bit more supportive of the 2[SUP]nd [/SUP]Amendment) if it stated: “STOP! Don’t Touch. Tell a Grown-up. Get Some Help!”

8 Stubborn Facts on Gun Violence in America

John G. Malcolm / @malcolm_john / Amy Swearer / @AmySwearer / March 14, 2018

Global statistics show that higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime. (Photo: DmyTo/Getty Images)

In the wake of the tragic murder of 17 innocent students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, students, educators, politicians, and activists are searching for solutions to prevent future school shootings.
As emotions morph from grief to anger to resolve, it is vitally important to supply facts so that policymakers and professionals can fashion solutions based on objective data rather than well-intended but misguided emotional fixes.

Are there ways to reduce gun violence and school shootings? Yes, but only after objectively assessing the facts and working collaboratively to fashion commonsense solutions.
Here are eight stubborn facts to keep in mind about gun violence in America:

  1. Violent crime is down and has been on the decline for decades.
  2. The principal public safety concerns with respect to guns are suicides and illegally owned handguns, not mass shootings.
  3. A small number of factors significantly increase the likelihood that a person will be a victim of a gun-related homicide.
  4. Gun-related murders are carried out by a predictable pool of people.
  5. Higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime.
  6. There is no clear relationship between strict gun control legislation and homicide or violent crime rates.
  7. Legally owned firearms are used for lawful purposes much more often than they are used to commit crimes or suicide.
  8. Concealed carry permit holders are not the problem, but they may be part of the solution.

Each of these facts is firmly based on empirical data. Here’s a deeper look.
1. America is relatively safe, and the trend is toward becoming safer.

  • According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, violent crime has been declining steadily since the early 1990s.
  • The 2011 homicide rate was almost half of the rate in 1991, and according to the Pew Research Center, the 2013 gun-related death rate was half of the rate in 1993.
  • The number of nonfatal firearm crimes committed in 2011 was one-sixth the number committed in 1993.
  • In the past few years, there have been minor increases in certain types of violent crimes, mainly in large metropolitan areas. However, these increases are nowhere near those seen in the 1990s and are largely related to gang activity.
  • It should be remembered that it takes at least three to five years of data to show true trend lines. It appears that the collective homicide toll for America’s 50 largest cities decreased modestly in 2017 after two consecutive years of increases.

2. The principal public safety concerns are suicides and illegally owned handguns.

  • According to the Pew Research Center, almost two-thirds of America’s annual gun deaths are suicides. Since 1981, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began publishing data, gun suicides have outnumbered gun homicides. In 2010 alone, 19,392 Americans used guns to kill themselves.
  • Most gun-related crimes are carried out with illegally owned firearms—as much as 80 percent according to some estimates.
  • The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports prove that the overwhelming majority of gun-related homicides are perpetrated with handguns, with rifles of any kind accounting for less than 3 percent of gun-related homicides. In 2013, 5,782 murders were committed by killers who used a handgun, compared to 285 committed by killers who used a rifle. The same holds true for 2012 (6,404 to 2908; 2011 (6,251 to 332); 2010 (6,115 to 367); and 2009 (6,501 to 351).
  • More people are stabbed to death every year than are murdered with rifles.
  • A person is more likely to be bludgeoned to death with a blunt object or beaten to death with hands and feet than to be murdered with a rifle.

3. A small number of factors significantly increase the likelihood that a person will be a victim of a gun-related homicide.

  • Where do you live? Murders in the United States are very concentrated. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, over 50 percent of murders occur in 2 percent of the nation’s 3,142 counties. Moreover, gun-related homicides are heavily concentrated in certain neighborhoods within those counties: 54 percent of U.S. counties had zero murders in 2014.
  • Who is your partner? According to a recent scholarly article in the Hastings Law Journal, people recently or currently involved in an abusive intimate relationship are much more likely to be victims of gun-related homicide than is the rest of the population, especially if the abuser possesses firearms.
  • Are you in a gang? According to the Department of Justice’s National Gang Center, particularly in urban areas, significant percentages of gun-related homicides (15 percent to 33 percent) are linked with gang and drug activity. Gang-related homicides are more likely to involve firearms than non-gang-related homicides are.
  • Are you a male between 15 and 34? The majority of standard gun murder victims are men between the ages of 15 and 34. Although black men make up roughly 7 percent of the population, they account for almost two-thirds of gun murder victims every year.
  • Women and children are more likely to be the victims of mass shootings and homicide-suicide shootings than they are to be the victims of a “typical” gun-related homicide.

4. The perpetration of gun-related murders is often carried out by predictable people.

5. Higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime.

  • Switzerland and Israel have much higher gun ownership rates than the United States but experience far fewer homicides and have much lower violent crime rates than many European nations with strict gun control laws.

  •
    • While some will argue that the guns carried by Swiss and Israeli citizens are technically “owned” by the government in most cases, this does little to negate the fact that many citizens in those countries have ready access to firearms.

  • Canada is ranked 12th in the world for the number of civilian-owned guns per capita and reports one of the world’s lower homicide rates—but even then, some provinces have higher homicide rates than U.S. states with less restrictive laws and higher rates of gun ownership have.
  • Although many gun control advocates have noted that “right to carry” states tend to experience slight increases in violent crime, other studies have noted the opposite effect.
  • Higher rates of concealed carry permit holders are even more strongly associated with reduction in violent crime than are right-to-carry states. The probable reason for this is that right-to-carry studies often include “open carry” states, which have not been shown to correlate with more people actually carrying or even owning firearms. Rates of concealed carry permit holders are better indicators of the number of people who actually possess and carry firearms within a given population.
  • Further, as with most correlations, there are many other factors that can account for increases in concealed carry permits—including the fact that people who live in already dangerous neighborhoods seek out means of self-defense. The Huffington Post noted that the rate of concealed carry permit requests in Chicago has soared in recent years after the city loosened restrictions, in large part, according to the Chicago Tribune, because law-abiding residents are increasingly worried about rising rates of violent crime in the city.
  • The rate of gun ownership is higher among whites than it is among African-Americans, but the murder rate among African-Americans is significantly higher than the rate among whites.
  • Similarly, the rate of gun ownership is higher in rural areas than in urban areas, but urban areas experience higher murder rates.

6. There is no clear relationship between strict gun control legislation and homicide or violent crime rates.

  • The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence ironically makes this clear with its ratings for states based on gun laws. “Gun freedom” states that score poorly, like New Hampshire, Vermont, Idaho, and Oregon, have some of the lowest homicide rates. Conversely, “gun control-loving” states that received high scores, like Maryland and Illinois, experience some of the nation’s highest homicide rates.
  • The Crime Prevention Research Center notes that, if anything, the data indicate that countries with high rates of gun ownership tend to have lower homicide rates—but this is only a correlation, and many factors do not necessarily support a conclusion that high rates of gun ownership cause the low rates of homicide.
  • Homicide and firearm homicide rates in Great Britain spiked in the years immediately following the imposition of severe gun control measures, despite the fact that most developed countries continued to experience a downward trend in these rates. This is also pointed out by noted criminologist John Lott in his book “The War on Guns.”
  • Similarly, Ireland’s homicide rates spiked in the years immediately following the country’s 1972 gun confiscation legislation.
  • Australia’s National Firearms Act appears to have had little effect on suicide and homicide rates, which were falling before the law was enacted and continued to decline at a statistically unremarkable rate compared to worldwide trends.
  • According to research compiled by Lott and highlighted in his book “The War on Guns,” Australia’s armed and unarmed robbery rates both increased markedly in the five years immediately following the National Firearms Act, despite the general downward trend experienced by other developed countries.
  • Great Britain has some of the strictest gun control laws in the developed world, but the violent crime rate for homicide, rape, burglary, and aggravated assault is much higher than that in the U.S. Further, approximately 60 percent of burglaries in Great Britain occur while residents are home, compared to just 13 percent in the U.S., and British burglars admit to targeting occupied residences because they are more likely to find wallets and purses.
  • It is difficult to compare homicide and firearm-related murder rates across international borders because countries use different methods to determine which deaths “count” for purposes of violent crime. For example, since 1967, Great Britain has excluded from its homicide counts any case that does not result in a conviction, that was the result of dangerous driving, or in which the person was determined to have acted in self-defense. All of these factors are counted as “homicides” in the United States.

7. Legally owned firearms are used for lawful purposes much more often than they are used to commit crimes or suicide.

  • In 2013, President Barack Obama ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assess existing research on gun violence. The report, compiled by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council, found (among other things) that firearms are used defensively hundreds of thousands of times every year.
  • According to the CDC, “self-defense can be an important crime deterrent.” Recent CDC reports acknowledge that studies directly assessing the effect of actual defensive uses of guns have found “consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.”
  • Semi-automatic rifles (such as the AR-15) are commonly used as self-defense weapons in the homes of law-abiding citizens because they are easier to control than handguns, are more versatile than handguns, and offer the advantage of up to 30 rounds of protection. Even Vox has published stories defending the use of the AR-15.
  • AR-15s have been used to save lives on many occasions, including:

  •
    • Oswego, Illinois (2018—A man with an AR-15 intervened to stop a neighbor’s knife attack and cited the larger weapon’s “intimidation factor” as a reason why the attacker dropped the knife.
    • Catawba County, North Carolina (2018—A 17-year-old successfully fought off three armed attackers with his AR-15.
    • Houston, Texas (2017)—A homeowner survived a drive-by shooting by defending himself with his AR-15.
    • Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (2017)—A homeowner’s son killed three would-be burglars with an AR-15 (the man was later deemed to have acted in justifiable self-defense).
    • Ferguson, Missouri (2014)—African-American men protected a white man’s store from rioters by standing outside armed with AR-15s.
    • Texas (2013)—A 15-year-old boy used an AR-15 during a home invasion to save both his life and that of his 12-year-old sister.
    • Rochester, New York (2013)—Home intruders fled after facing an AR-15.

8. Concealed carry permit holders are not the problem, but they may be part of the solution.

  • Lott found that, as a group, concealed carry permit holders are some of the most law-abiding people in the United States. The rate at which they commit crimes generally and firearm crimes specifically is between one-sixth and one-tenth of that recorded for police officers, who are themselves committing crimes at a fraction of the rate of the general population.
  • Between 2007 and 2015, murder rates dropped 16 percent and violent crime rates dropped 18 percent, even though the percentage of adults with concealed carry permits rose by 190 percent.
  • Regression estimates show a significant association between increased permit ownership and a drop in murder and violent crime rates. Each percentage point increase in rates of permit-holding is associated with a roughly 2.5 percent drop in the murder rate.
  • Concealed carry permit holders are often “the good guy with a gun,” even though they rarely receive the attention of the national media. Concealed carry permit holders were credited with saving multiple lives in:

Thousands of students participated in a nation-wide school walkout for the Parkland shooting victims, but some questioned if there were any political motivations when Democratic leaders join the anti-gun marches. NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch sounds off. FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news.

The number one network in cable, FNC has been the most watched television news channel for more than 15 years and according to a Suffolk University/USA Today poll, is the most trusted television news source in the country. Owned by 21st Century Fox, FNC is available in more than 90 million homes and dominates the cable news landscape, routinely notching the top ten programs in the genre.
