TOO HOT TO THINK To be honest, time (and desire) has gotten the best of me. It's 4 days into the hottest month of the year and all I can think about is the pool. My office has two glass walls that overlook the pool and the pond in front of the woods. This makes it hard to concentrate. A good book and a cold sweet white wine poolside is all I want right now.

As most of you are also feeling the heat, cruisin may be limited to the evening or a five mile radius of home. I will be venturing out Sunday for the monthly Hooters & Hot Rods show in Sanford. I'll find the smallest and lightest dress I can legally wear and take a car with AC. I can guarantee the first thing I do when I arrive home is take a giant leap into the 86° pool, naked if necessary.

Stay cool and hydrated.

I've always been a big believer in covering that special car. But after many years and many types, I have ditched the cover.

TO COVER OR NOT TO COVER I've always been a big believer in covering that special car. But after many years and many types, I have ditched the cover.

I always purchased a good quality brand. I prefer the kind with the fuzzy underside, like the inside of a sweatshirt. It doesn't scratch the paint and some are made water repellant.

The problem I have is the dirt and dust land on top, then you roll it up, and place it in the trunk. Now the debris is on the underside of the cover. When I put it back on, that dirt will transfer to the car. I just defeated the purpose of keeping the car clean. Also, in order for the cover to breathe and not trap moisture some dust particle get on the underside.

Invariably I will be forced to clean the car after removing the cover anyway. The best reason to keep a cover on is for protection. Kids, pets, falling object, twigs, etc. There is a great level of protection with that thin layer of fuzzy material.

With my situation now, the covers came off. The cars are locked away with nothing, and I mean nothing, that can fall on top of them... except the roof.

OCTOBER
STOP BY & SAY HI October is an exciting month. The air is changing with the smell of fall, less rainfall, and the weekends are supercharged with shows. It reminds us that the holidays are right around the corner and so is the cool air.

FCS has been working on a few new things for the fall season. I've upgraded our standard advertising postcard to a tri-fold brochure. It goes into more details about FCS. Great for newbies getting into the car community, show organizers, and potential advertisers. If you are hosting a car show and giving out goodie bags, please email a request for brochures info@flacarshows.com.

I've designed a 3" magnet with the FCS logo. This is a great reminder to use the website frequently to see upcoming events. Put it on your tool box, garage cabinets, refrigerator, or your classic car dash (most were metal back then).

I will be displaying the FCS yellow tent beside my 1967 blue Acadian in the Lake Mirror Car Show in downtown Lakeland on Saturday October 15. Please stop by and pick up the new brochure and magnet. I'm always good for a chat as well.
