its my sisters celica, I dont know shit about toyotas, I was just driving it casually, down shifted to third and it just started backfiring hard.

I thought it was a gas issue so I put some in. I know it can be a number of things I just would like a few good ideas to what it actually could be

I checked the distributor wires and they were all still plugged in

the car will drive, I just wont really rev up and it stalls at every stop

could it be the timing?
please help I really need to figure out whats wrong with this bastard

Check the spark plugs. A friend of mine was driving his SC300 for a month while it was misfiring, thinking it was a vacuum leak. Turns out one of the spark plugs melted and closed the gap.

um, well first off its not a 3.0L. its either a 1.6, or 2.2
