got a worn out supra diff?
so i got tired of buying used stock lsd diff's and having them be worn the fuck out. it seams even an n/a auto lsd diff would just spin one tire. so i had a pile of stock diff's just lying around i tried an experiment out. i mean after all its a clutch pack diff. people pay over a grand for these things aftermarket. so i tried to make the stock one work better........
so i cleaned and resurfaced all the friction surfaces and got everything all scuffed up. u can see in the pics how glazed the metal rings were. and i shimmed the spring for a more aggressive lock up. well i just got it in the car and to my surprise it acts almost like an aftermarket 2 way. its chattery and very aggresive. which is what i was after. i can do the same thing but with a less aggressive spring. and i can even order new friction surfaces as well. so no more one tire fire. so you can either do it yourself or send me your diff and i'll freshen it up for u.
i'll be taking it to some drift events shortly so we'll see if the stock clutch packs can hold up to the aggressive springs.......

cars runs liek a champ. i love it, it just needs coilovers and more steering angle. the diff works great. its soo easy to slide. and i some how have to figure a way to get 500lbs out of the car while keeping a/c. i mean i have a working r12 a/c system, there is no way in hell i can just take it out while its still working. lol. its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold. and my tank is a targa!! hahahahahahhahaahhaha i love it.

you could also throw in an extra clutch plate from another diff if the ones in it are worn enough. wier performance sells rebuild kits for the stock lsd's btw.

yea, i know about weir, he's going to be redue-ing my ae86 rear end for the tune of about 2grand. i can get the new cluch plates from toyota, the only thing i would get from weir would be a solid pinion spacer. the g series seam to be pretty tough, not like the weak 6.7 ae86 diff.

btw, i will be checling axle stub differences to see if the mk3 lsd's can be installed into other g series pumkins, i.e. lexus's and such. alot cheaper than mk4 stuff!!!

the mk3 diff is different then the lexus diffs. iirc the only stock lsd that will fit the lexus diffs is the mk4 n/a lsd. but if you find out it does work, that would be great to know in case i ever get another ls400 down the road.

The MK4 auto turbo diff works too, just has a 3.76 instead of the 4.08.
