i got a 01 toyota corolla and i got problems with it losing oil. i checked every seal and gasket and nothing not a drop. i changed out the valve cover gasket because there was some oil in the back of the cover. with the cover changed no oil leaking from there and looked under the car nothing there. i checked the oil when i went to go put gas in and it was very low as in barely any. last time i got the oil changed was about a month ago and it was good up until a few days ago i guess. so what i am asking is any ideas on where and how to fix? i also need an O2 sensor fixed on it so idk at this point.

 

Take it to a shop and have them look at it.

 

Sounds like you are burning oil. Does the car smoke? You may need to get the motor rebuilt.

 

Maybe a dumb question, but are you sure it was full after the oil change, then gradually lost oil, or did you not see the oil level immediately after the change? I wouldn't jump to the rebuilt motor conclusion. It's most likely burning oil, not leaking it. Have someone trail behind you and find out when it's burning it (blueish smoke out the tailpipe, if you didn't know), such as on cold starts, off-idle, or when you really put the hammer down.

My first guess would be valve stem seals. Often times, if it's a head gasket, you'll burn coolant, as well, so keep an eye on that level.

P.S., that Corolla better be stock and stay that way.

 

the 2000-2002 1zz motors are known for burning oil badly keep adding oil and driving it it will keep running. Or put an 03+1zz into the car

 

I have a 8th gen myself with 300,000 miles on it and what I did bump up to 10w40 and you will be fine ... I took my car to new york a couple of months ago and only used a quart going up ....

 

yes oil was full after the oil change and I am thinking on buying a new motor. what can I cram into the bay? I will try the 10-40 and see what happens. I have no smoke when driving either.

 

the coolant level is fine always has been. and no smoke at all.

 

with the rate you say you are loosing oil, you would be leaving little drips of oil everywhere you went if you were leaking.

What kind of oil do you use?
different oils burn at different rates. IE, Mobil 1 won't smoke at all.

 

i am using 10-30 and no smoke or no drops of oil. idk where it is going or coming from. my pan gasket is not leaking either
