Red face Looking for a good Lexus mechanic

I have a 1992 LS400, the alternator had gone bad. I replaced it, the dash lights come but the car won't crank at all. I checked the cables, fuses, fusible links and even put ina different ecu and battery same thing. I can only conclude it is the anti theft (factory) or starter. I really hope it is not the alternator as it is labor intensive. The car will have to be towed to the mechanic or if the person is mobile that would be great. Please help...being paid of course

disconnect the negative of the battery and leave it off for a full min or 2 while the car is totally locked up. then hook it back up and use the key to unlock the drivers door and try again. had to do this on my 93 ls400 a few weeks ago when i put the battery back in.

and if that fails, i would roll down the drivers side window. lock the car up. disconnect the battery for 1min, reconnect, then reach in and unlock the door by hand setting off the alarm. then put the key in the door and turn to unlock. the alarm should shut off. after this it should start also.

Seems like the starter. I turn on the headlights and turn the ignition I get no dimming in the headlights at all. I turn on the radio and when I try to turn on the car the radio cuts out. So it looks like the ignition switch is good. The only things I can think of are the neutral safety switch or the starter and or solenoid. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery Wil but nothing works. I don't see the alarm light on at all.

try putting the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position then jump the starter if it turns on its your alarm stopping the starter from turning on. recommend getting a new alarm. mine did that to me when it went bad. if not it probbly is your starter like you said

i think he means the factory alarm. which is what i was talking about. the starter is under the intake manifold on the 1uz so its hard to get to. even if the starter was bad the solenoid should still click. if it worked before the alt install id bet there is a wire loose somewhere. have you tried holding the brake and putting the trans all the way down to first and then back to park? i still think its the alarm, thats why i also stated to trigger the alarm then shut it back off with the key. theres a relay that controls the starter on/off and it might be stuck. triggering the alarm and resetting it might fix it.

I am a Lexus tech. If you have power going to all of your starter related connections it is a good possibility that your starter went out. It might be a very strange coincidence ,but your car is a 92. You have any history of it being changed? Your stock alarm should disable once you put the key in the lock or ignition. Where are you located? If your somewhat local I can do the starter job for you.
