TweeT's 89 Toyota Supra build :) Lots of pics
This is basically a recap of my post from Supramania.com, that I figured I would share with my fellow tampons.....(idk)
Ok, long story short, I went to a big car meet a few Wednesday's ago, everything was ok....on the ride home I noticed a small knock (you guessed it). So from seeing all the inevitable damage thats cause from the smallest knock, I have decided to go ahead and pull the motor for the rebuild I have been wanting to start anyways...I thought maybe it was low on oil, but it wasn't. So i'm thinking maybe something is up with the pump.
Pictures of how it looked, after having it towed home. Basically just something to remember. Not that anyone would want to...lol

The SR & RB like lean from a bad motor mount.

Old water Thermostat housing

Starting to pull the little things off that normally get in the way.

Stock CT

Almost all intake off

Starter switch rely

Harness off and probably going to be replaced, seeing thats its missing and or broken most of its connectors

As it was waiting to be pulled

All the stuff thats been taken off

got the motor pulled last night.... pics in a few
Next plan is to get the tranny off the motor and the motor onto the stand.
The motor as it stood, right before the pull

The shifter removed, so nothing gets broken

All chained up ready to be removed

Drive shaft removed

And its in the air

Motor mounts that needed replacing, I really don't know how m motor didn't drive away on its own with these things.

Passenger side mount

Caught up on the PS pump

And the PS pump cleared....

Step away and took a breather, cause the tail of the tranny had to be lifted next, so.....

Myspace pic time

Getting motivated to lift the beast

And on the ground somehow lol

So next step is to remove the tranny, and get the motor mounted on the stand, then it will be time to source and price a lot of things, also tear down the motor to send it in for head and block work....
Alright, so today and tonight was eventful.....
The tranny and motor were together waiting for me this morning when I woke up.
So I tried releasing the tranny from the motor...well it refused to let go.
After calling in some back up from a friend that just got his Supra back on the road after 3 years of building, and pulling on the ole TSRM....we figured it out, and the silly clutch fork, was holding strong like it should have. A small thing to overlook.
So tranny came off and was set aside. Well it was decided to go ahead and mount the trannyless motor to the engine stand. Come to find out the both sets of bolts I got with the stand either didn't fit the threads on the block, or weren't long enough to get a good grip on the block. Again, a small thing to overlook but it happens. So tomorrow before work, a little trip to a local hardware place will hopefully pay off, and i'll get the bolts that fit.
And now the pictures...
What I woke up to this morning

Off with the access panels

Removing the clutch assembly

The old and used 6 puck
The light went out, and I found the real purpose of the famous 7M

My buddy's Supra chilling next to mine

My whole motor, just sitting in a corner?

This morning was nice so I went out and felt like cleaning a bit..... I moved the fuse box, and surrounding electronics, and got to work with Purple power, a brush, and a toothbrush. I still have to figure what i'm going to do about the ABS...cause as far as I know it doesn't really work (being that I have front locked one time, in the rain) If anyone has some advice on how I should go about the ABS, please let me know. Here are some pics of the bay so far more will come
Pics of the bay after the motor was pulled...

Got up to the abs, and still trying to figure that one out

The whole corner that is done.

Ok I got to taking my drive shaft off, and it dawned on me. Could my diff. cause this "rattling sound" I heard? Cause the oil pan is off, and it looks like theres no damage at all. Should I tear the diff out and see whats going on in there?

I guess this was a joke when the motor got swapped?

ANYWAYS
small update...today being my day off, I wanted to finally remove my diff. and see whats going on in there. Well I got 2 of the bolts off, but the remaining ones refuse to come off. So while they were taking a WD-40 bath, I went to good ole' Home De-Pot, and Sears...and bought a few things I was hoping would fit, into the galleys to access the ARP bolts. (Pics will follow) Anyways, I got a socket that barely fits, BUT, I finally got them off. I'm so happy, but a little disappointed, cause its doesn't look like theres any damage to the MHG, which I was planning on there being. Not that thats whats disappointing lol, its the fact that I still don't know what cause my motor to act like I threw a rod. So untill my next day off, or if I find some time tomorrow before work, to take off my diff...ill see whats going on in there. Other then that, I am STILL at a loss, on what the problem was.
And now le photos
Tools of the trade... ( idk lol)

It fits

The bolts and 2 studs I some how managed to release also.

And the head is off

Obviously the head wasnt stock otherwise they wouldve said stock ENGINE. It prob had 272s, port job, and aggressive cam to make that much power.
What do you think a stock 2J will do with only single turbo upgrade on leaded fuel?
It starts with 8xx
You gonna get a different intake mani?
