A friend may buying one this weekend and wanted to know if there any common problems on these cars that he should look for before he purchases it. It has 150K miles. Thanks

 

at 150k miles my old celica was running good... But, my transmission died on 157k my alternator and starter died at 152k... my exhaust rusted out at around 140k... my suspension died at same time as tranny...




Celicas are very durable cars if u drive it like an old lady

but if u gonna race it, u'll have to fix it up alot

 

2.2L 5s-fe

it probably needs front and rear main seals if u havent done those yet and probably check to make sure the valve cover gasket and cam seals have been done lately. the tranny should probly be serviced frequently esp. the auto's, and just check general things like plugs/wires/dist. cap/rotor, etc.

it should run good though.

 

Just have the guy save up his money for an alltrac.

speaking of which... u can buy an all-trac for 6k? and have a nice road trip of atleast 600 miles
