The car only starts if the wires are in the order 1-2-4-3.
Shouldn't the order go 1-3-4-2 with the first piston closest to the radiator?
i'm going to check valve timing, there's something funky about this

Its an october 83 so the title says 84

I am very new to toyotas; sorry for all the posting
at 0 degrees the cams are in the right place. Can someone send me a link to installing the distributor, it may be 180 degrees out.
From looking in the oil cap the mark on the intake cam is correct so i am assuming the exhaust cam is good also, or it would have failed the compression test horribly.
150psi is low but not horrible from what i can tell by the FSM

check the injectors, and check for a short in the wires for the injectors for #1 and #2. a continuity check takes 10 seconds and eliminates that as a problem if nothing else.

i used a screwdriver to my ear and the fuel injector to make sure it was pulsing. All of them click on. The distributor was like 30 degrees off and the correct firing order starts the car now, still needs plugs and wires they are older than i thought they were.

Does anyone have a fuel pressure regulator for a 4age?

There should be 2 dots on the dizzy shaft. Line up the closest one with the mark on the dizzy. The rotor should be pointing up.

Thanks, i got it timed. The FPR doesn't change the way the car idles or runs with vaccume line on or off. I think that may be some of the problem.

*figured out why the fuel injectors could be swapped*
The 4th fuel injector wiring was backwards. I am assuming that would leave the injector open for too long, pulsing at the wrong time. That would account for the
changing between the 3rd and 4th cylinder

Ahhhh! the timing light says the car is 61 degrees off!
Who worked on this car before me?!?
The distibutor is correctly installed at 0 degrees and it runs 61 degrees off. The intake cam is correct from what i can see; but the exhaust cam may be off. Can the adjustable cam gears be put on wrong? I don't think so. Argggg
