ok i have a 91 7mgte and it keeps burnin ecus and it runs on the burnt ecu fine a friend and i swapped out all the wiring and it still burnt the ecu but still runs and idles fine the only thing it does is when you hold the throttle at bout 2k it like cuts out and when i drive it does the same thing then another thing when im drivin i see the boost gauge creeps up to 0 soon as it gets into boost it breaks up i dont think i have a boost leak my vaccum is a 20-22 so if anyone has had or similar prob or might know wat it might be let me know wat you think cuz im out of ideas thanks

 

Thats weird. Is the car properly grounded? Any CEL? What wiring did you change, the whole harness?

 

ya the grounds are good re did them not to long ago and ya we changed out the engine harness

Do you have electrical knowledge? If so, start tracing wires.

 

So you have a 91 7mgte setup? It sounds like you may have swapped it in. If you did, did you swap in all the hardware that came in the 91 setup? if you're running some older components or if you still have some 7mge stuff, that might be the cause.

 

we swapped to an 88 harness and ecu, same stuff though it runs better then the 91 stuff did. all the wiring into the truck is correct. ive checked it over several times now. the 88 harness and ecu worked perfect in my 84 supra. pulled it out when i installed the megasquirt stuff. weve swapped out every sensor and whatnot with KNOWN GOOD things and it does the same stuff. engine is rebuilt and perfect. only thing im not sure on is his maf, injectors, and maybe the fuel lines, but the popping at 2k wouldnt be fuel lines. no load or boost to have a high demand on fuel. i didnt think about it but i guess we could try adding a couple 4 awg grounds from the block/head to the body. might help since the battery is in the bed of the truck.
