In his model Celica, it would be a pain in the ass to put it in. The ST trim came with a 4afe. To put in a 3sgte I believe you have to cut a weld 1 or 2 mounts in order to swap it. If he had a GT or GTS it would be an easy bolt in swap. Wiring would be the challenge but not too hard. I would suggest buying a GT or GTS with a blown motor and using that as a shell or just find someone selling their swapped GT or GTS.

Well to be honest. I would just keep it. The 4afe is very fuel efficient. You can always swap in a 4age 20v in it but I don't know if it will be really worth the money. I mean even if he had the right model, he would have to be prepared to spend 2500 to 3000 for a half cut clip with delivery.

all depends on how much power he is looking for, for most people, a low boost 4age setup would be plenty

If you can weld, do the 3sgte. Its not as hard as a lot of people make it out to be. Although I have been apart of many "this engine doesnt belong in this engine bay" scenarios.

or build that 4A. You can get a 7AFE block from a slightly newer corolla and throw a 4AGE head on there. I was told with that setup an intake exhaust and megasquirt. You are good for 160WHP. Do a little more work and you can creep it up there. Or you can go 4AGZE stuff and turbo the car.

Im not 100% sure on the Celicas and Corollas 4A block differences but they cant be too crazy

Also you can get a 4AGE 20v with 5 or 6 speed trans for about 1000 to 1500 bucks. Im not sure what you can and cant use. But its not that heavy of a car so it should be fun

omg whats wrong with you people, the 4agze is cheap as hell, and with a pully will make 150-170whp. or just get rid of all the supercharger stuff and throw a turbo on it. but if yoru buddies car is an auto, i would just leave it stock. convertign those cars to a stick is pretty much impossible.
