Mr2 MkII 2.2L no spark!!!
Mr2 MkII 2.2L no spark!!!
I have tried to pinpoint the problem but would like some advise. Let me start from the beginning. I was cruising in Fifth gear this past friday when all of a sudden the voltage dipped a little and then the car shut off. Tried cranking it would not start. I got it towed home and started poking around. I notice the fused labeled Fl AM2 40a in the front was blown. I tried replacing it, with the igition in the on position the fuse was ok but it popped again as i tried starting the engine. The ignition main relay clicks when you put the car in the on position, but the fuse label ecu-ig 7.5 after the relay is getting no power, which in turn goes to the igniter and then the coil pack. So im trying to pinpoint what could be wrong: igniter, coilpack, relay? I have included pic of electrical set up with some labels to give you guys a visual. Any feedback would very helpful. Also nothing is melted, wires to and from the harness look good.
what you need to do is see what that 40 amp fuse powers. then unplug all those components 1 at a time. if it still pops after unplugging them all then you have a frayed/cut wire somewhere touching ground. look for any cut wires or melted wires etc... not if you say unplug the ignitor and the fuse stops blowing. you have a bad ignitor that is shorted to ground internally and it will need to be replaced etc...
