What do I look for when buying an mr2?
Right now I'm looking at a 92' Mr2 (n/a) and I'm just wondering about the common problems and what to check for in/on the car. I've already looked at it once in person and it looks straight but I'd like to have some perspective as well. Thanks for any help I can get.

He lives in St. Pete but works in Clearwater so I could meet him either place as long as he doesn't mind, but I don't know anyone with an mr2 so I just want to know the common problems so I don't buy a money pit.

first check for if its been in a crash.. duh... then if they did any mods, you have to check if they cut any wires up or n e thing. N/a motors are usually pretty damn good, just check for oil leaks ect and how it runs. A NA motor in really good condition you can get for like 300$. if the body is clean, interior is not all messed up, and runs good, your gonna be in good shape.

Well everything looks good, it ran strong and went into gear easily and smoothly. The car has a little rust but it was a Utah car until 04' so I'm not too concerned about that. The only collision it's been in was with an animal according to the carfax and that was back in 94'. I'm pretty sure it will be good but I'm just going to have a mechanic look at it as well. If that checks out then we'll work out a price and that's that.

i cant think of too many things off of the top of my head right now other then the usual standard stuff like oil leaks, suspension ect... hop on MR2board.com

yea def gotta check out the rust and everything. the cool thing about the MR2 is that everything is pretty good when it comes to fixing for minor stuff... plus i got 4 part MR2 sitting out back so whatever you need

Ya I've been doing a little research so I know the common problems. The rust isn't bad so I can take care of that easily enough. Once I buy this I'll be poor for a while so parts will have to wait lol.
