Default 2000 1MZ Coil problem

Mom's car's throwing a coil code again. #1 coil was replaced like 2 years ago, now we believe #2 is the problem child. Just curious how sporadic the problem is.

Before people ask, I know Toyota specs, theory, "history" etc., not tendencies and inclinations to break if they arent RWD

Was that last line really nessary? If the car has over 100,000 miles sure another one or the other 5 coils would go out. Same thing with 02 sensors those can go out at 50,000. Find out which coil it is buy a coil and go on your way. If it keeps going out you might have a electrical issue going on or some resistance in the circuit to the coil.

Coils arent exactly considered "wear parts" to replaced with regular maintenance like O2 sensors, hence the reason everyone has switched to COP ignition.

It turned out to be cylinder 1 again, a pain in the ass because its on the back bank. Regardless, a quick fix.

I also thought it could be a resistance problem, but there's a rattle in the old coil, so I think its just a mechanical failure.
